Michael Owen is tipping Manchester United to ease to a comfortable win against Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils will make the short trip to the Magpies looking to record back-to-back Premier League victories to cement their place in the top four.
Manchester United were 2-0 winners against Huddersfield Town last weekend after Romelu Lukaku and January signing Alexis Sanchez got on the score sheet.
Jose Mourinho’s side are five points clear of third-placed Liverpool FC to open up a gap between themselves and the top-four chasing pack.
However, the Red Devils are 13 points adrift of runaway Premier League leaders Manchester City to effectively end their title ambitions.
Newcastle have only managed to win one of their last six games in the Premier League to leave the Mapgies lingering above the relegation zone.
Former Red Devils striker Owen is backing Manchester United to secure three points against Newcastle at St James’ Park on Sunday afternoon.
“Two of my former clubs go head-to-head and I feel United will take the points at a ground where they have won more away Premier League games (12) than at any other club,” Owen told BetVictor.
“The Magpies are without a win in their last eight PL home games but, surprisingly, Jose Mourinho has never won a league game at St James’s Park in six previous attempts.
“Paul Pogba was left out of the United side against Huddersfield at Old Trafford last weekend but I expect the Frenchman to be back in the starting XI and a winning side at the weekend.”
Manchester United will take on Spanish side Sevilla in the Champions League round of 16 later this month.
The Red Devils signed Sanchez in a swap deal that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan complete a move to Arsenal.
