United fans are happy with their sides current form and overall performance this year. With Jose Mourinho having just extended his contract, United will mean business in the transfer market again this summer as they hunt for more silverware.
United this season alone have experimented with changing their back-line and one position that doesn’t seem to be locked down by one player is the left-back slot.
Luke Shaw and Jose Mourinho have a real shortage of trust between them and consequently the ex-saint has been unable to really assert himself as the talent he always promised to be.
If United do seek to replace Shaw this summer and with Ashley Young only acting like a temporary replacement, then Man United shouldn’t look further than Ryan Bertrand for an able successor.
Bertrand, valued at £18.00 million according to Transfermarkt, has been one of Southampton’s top performers over the last few seasons.
Although Saints have struggled desperately for goals this season, their defence still remains intact with Bertrand being a huge part of that.
The 28-year-old has played in 26 Premier League matches this season and with his constant running up and down the wing, he’s also managed to assist his team-mates on three occasions.
Ryan Bertrand has consistently featured for Southampton since joining permanently from Chelsea in the winter of 2015 and bringing him to Old Trafford would provide the Red Devils with extra stability in defence as they look to tighten their side so that they can really challenge for the Premier League again.
Bertrand would be one of the cheaper options if United do look to buy a left-back but the fans here aren’t worried about the price-tag because they know the England international would do a fine job in the red of United.
