Arsenal are to blame for Alexis Sanchez woeful Manchester United form, claims Danny Higginbotham

Alexis Sanchez needs to get Arsenal out of his system before he can showcase his best form for Manchester United.

The Chile international has scored just once in 10 games since his high-profile move to Old Trafford in January which saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan move in the opposite direction.

Jose Mourinho has deployed Sanchez in a number of different positions across his forward line but has been unable to get the best out of the 29-year-old who was again well off the pace as United were dumped out of the Champions League by Sevilla on Tuesday.

‘I think the problem that Sanchez has is that he is still trying to play the Arsenal way,’ said former Manchester United defender Higginbotham.

‘Manchester United and Arsenal are two completely different ways of playing football

‘Sanchez is still playing that Arsenal way and he needs to evolve and play the way Mourinho wants to play.

‘I understand that Sanchez is always going to play because he is a brand new signing.’
