Paul Pogba wants transfer – Balague
Paul Pogba wants to leave Old Trafford for Barcelona and won’t be happy until he does so, says La Liga expert Guillem Balague.
“The root cause of their relationship breakdown is the ‘carrot and stick’ approach to man-management employed by Mourinho with the aim of getting the most out of his players,” Balague told Goal.
“Mourinho really couldn’t care less how he is perceived by his players so long as they carry out his orders and deliver the desired results on the field. For the two-time Champions League winner, the end has always justified the means.
“I feel that in Pogba’s mind, he and Mourinho are equals, and that is the reason for the current acrimony between the two men.
“The midfielder’s extremely pro-active agent, Mino Raiola, has for the past 12 months has been doing everything he can to secure his client a move away from Manchester.
“There is no question that Pogba, now in his third season back in England, has decided that he has had enough of Mourinho and wants out.”
Alessio Romagnoli to Manchester United
Alessio Romagnoli would be a good signing for Manchester United – but they would need to buy another defender to partner him, says ESPN FC pundit Paul Mariner.
AC Milan centre-back Romagnoli has been linked with a move to Manchester United in recent days.
United boss Jose Mourinho was desperate to bring in a central defender in the summer, and now appears to have turned his attentions to Italy international Romagnoli.
Mariner is a fan of the 23-year-old but says United must sign another player who can play alongside him.
“I like him, I like him a lot,” the pundit said. “But the problem is, when you have a player like Romagnoli going into United, who’s he going to play with?
“He needs somebody alongside him to solidify that defence. That’s what Manchester United have not got. If they’re going to get him in, get another one, a more experienced player.
“I say for United yes this is a fantastic move, he’s a good player. And for the kid, yeah I like it.”
Milan Skriniar focused
Milan Skriniar says he is not thinking about rumours linking him with a move to Manchester United.
Skriniar’s performances are understood to have caught the eye of Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho.
Reports claim Mourinho wants to raid his former club in the January transfer window after being far from convinced by the central defensive options at Old Trafford.
But Skriniar says his focus is on performing well for Inter, who have made a solid start to the season.
“I just read that, but I’m not thinking about these things,” he said. “There were these rumours in the summer too but nothing happened in the end and I don’t think anything will happen now.”
Wanted: Aaron Ramsey
Manchester United and Liverpool are readying a January move for Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey.
Ramsey, 27, is out of contract next year, meaning the Wales international can leave on a free transfer.
And according to the London Evening Standard, United and Liverpool are eyeing a cut-price move for Ramsey in January.
They say that Arsenal believe there is a strong chance either United and Liverpool will move for Ramsey.
The Standard add that Liverpool are the most likely to sign the midfielder.
Jurgen Klopp is a big admirer of Ramsey – and the Reds boss wants to bolster his midfield ranks.
AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus have also been linked with a move for the Wales star.
