MANCHESTER UNITED striker Anthony Martial has earned a recall to Didier Deschamp’s France squad.
Martial has returned to form in recent weeks, firing five goals in his last four Premier League appearances.
He missed out on France’s World Cup success in Russia after being left out of Deschamps’ squad as a result of his poor campaign last term.
Deschamps, however, has seen enough to bring him back into the fold but believes the “incredible” forward still needs to be more consistent.
“Anthony has had good times in blue but also some difficult, particularly at club level,” the France boss said at a press conference.
“What he does with Manchester United is close to what he is capable of, both in terms of his investment and efficiency.
“Anthony is a young player who is in the process of acquiring, I hope, a certain level of maturity – his potential is incredible.
“He does not always show it consistently, though.
“Anthony’s concentration wavers, which suggests that he only involves himself at certain times.
“He is still young but has already done plenty.
“It depends on him but there is a lot more to come and he has been showing more over the past few weeks with his club.
“At times, it is not enough, and Anthony has to battle with that – it is in his nature.
“He needs to go up a level to be consistent over the course of a season and then multiple seasons.”
Meanwhile, former United midfielder Paul Ince believes Martial can emulate Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard.
Ince told Paddy Power: ”Martial is Man United’s Eden Hazard. He’s their world class attacking player, the one that can do something special and make things happen when you most need it.
“He’s only 22, and if he carries on in this form, he’ll be as good, if not better than Hazard.”
Next up for Martial and United in Sunday’s derby against Manchester City.
