Man Utd news: ‘Fabregas and Mourinho could be set for an Old Trafford reunion’
Fabregas, who has fallen out of favour under Maurizio Sarri, looks set to leave Stamford Bridge when his contract expires next summer.
Mourinho signed the Spanish ace during his second spell in charge of Chelsea in 2014.
Fabregas played a key role as the Blues romped to that season’s Premier League title.
Ladbrokes spokesman Alex Apati told Starsport: It looks as though Fabregas and Mourinho could be set for an Old Trafford reunion – if the United boss can keep hold of his job until the summer.”
Fabregas has been told by Chelsea to expect a major reduction to the £160,000-a-week he currently earns if they do decide to offer him an extension.
He has not started a Premier League fixture since Sarri replaced Antonio Conte in the dugout in July.
Speaking about his future earlier this month, Fabregas said: He said: “I still believe in myself a lot and think I can add so much to this team.
“Let’s see what happens but I am happy here.
“In life, not just football, timing is the most important thing. You don’t have to rush decisions, you don’t have to talk before things happen. At the moment I am playing once a week.
“But we will see when the time comes that the Europa League ends for two months and there is a break in the EFL Cup [before the semi-finals should Chelsea get there]. Then there will only be games in the Premier League [for a few weeks].”
Fabregas sparked speculation by suggesting he would be open to returning to Arsenal.
“Arsenal will always be in my heart and I will never forget them so why not return. You never know,” he said last month.
Gunners bosses, however, have no interest in bringing him back to the club.
