Manchester United are close to agreeing a new five-year deal with Anthony Martial following his scintillating start to the season.
The Frenchman is out of contract at the end of the season, though United have the option of extending his deal with a 12-month extension clause.
Martial has put his troubles with Jose Mourinho behind him so far this term and has scored six goals in 13 appearances so far.
The 22-year-old has started in each of United’s last six matches and was instrumental in the Red Devils’ stunning comeback against Juventus in Turin on Wednesday.
Martial rejected United’s opening contract offer of around £160,000-a-week but the Daily Mail report that the Frenchman is now close to finalising an agreement.
The forward, who earned a recall to Didier Deschamps’ France squad yesterday, is expected to sign a five-year deal worth around £190,000-a-week.
United have been in talks with Martial’s representatives for months and a new deal would represent a significant u-turn given the Frenchman wanted to leave the club last summer.
Martial is expected to start on Sunday as United travel to rivals Manchester City.
United are unbeaten in their last six matches, which has eased the pressure on Jose Mourinho’s job at Old Trafford.
