Manchester United forward Anthony Martial subject of Eden Hazard claim

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial can go on to be even better than Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, it has been boldly claimed.

The Frenchman has been in fine form for Jose Mourinho’s side in recent weeks, scoring five goals in his last six appearances – including a superb brace in a 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Juventus are the only team to have stopped Martial from finding the net since October 2 and former United midfielder Paul Ince reckons City will be wary of the 22-year-old’s threat in Sunday’s Manchester derby.

“No team will want to face Anthony Martial right now,” Ince said, according to Mirror Online.

“He’s playing like the player we all knew he was. And it’s interesting to see that now Mourinho seems to have found a team and formula that works, the results are coming in.

“Martial is Man United’s Eden Hazard. He’s their world class attacking player, the one that can do something special and make things happen when you most need it.

“He’s only 22, and if he carries on in this form, he’ll be as good, if not better than Hazard.”

Martial’s upturn in form for United saw him named in the France squad for their upcoming games against the Netherlands and Uruguay. The former Monaco man’s last appearance for his country came in March.

His run of consistently good performances has also put him in a better bargaining position when it comes to his contract talks with United.

Martial’s current deal expires at the end of the season, although United have the option to extend it by a further year, and The Sun say the club is ready to table a five-year deal worth £190,000-a-week.
