Man United striker Romelu Lukaku is an injury concern after Belgium confirmed he will miss their game with Switzerland.
Jose Mourinho has been handed a fresh injury concern after striker Romelu Lukaku did not travel with the Belgium squad to Switzerland.
Lukaku had only recently recovered from an injury with United after missing the wins at Bournemouth and Juventus, and has now withdrawn from his national squad.
The former Everton striker missed Belgium’s win over Iceland on Thursday with a knock with Mourinho watching on in the stands, and now the Belgian Football Association confirmed that he has not travelled with the squad to Switzerland.
They tweeted: “@RomeluLukaku9 did not travel with us today. He is still injured (hamstring) and will miss [Switzerland vs Belgium].”
HLN journalist Kristof Terreur said that Mourinho was aware of Lukaku’s injury before he travelled to Belgium for the Iceland game.
The news comes after both Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial withdrew from the French squad at the start of the international break, meaning Mourinho could be without three key players for the visit of Crystal Palace next Saturday.
Lukaku is on somewhat of a goal-drought at the moment, as he has not found the net for United in ten games. He has more goals for his country this season (5) than for Mourinho’s men (4).
